Conformance Testing - Concepts
C&S group is worldwide no. 1 in testing of new CAN chip implementations. So far more than 15 man-years have been invested into the development of the test technique. Other protocols and layers have been added to the portfolio of C&S in the meantime.
Conformance testing is the only method to ensure correct functional behaviour of complex communication networks. According to ISO 9646 each layer of a communication protocol must be tested against its specification.
Standardization bodies such as ISO, SAE, LIN-, FlexRay- or MOST- Consortium prepare conformance test specifications, containing test cases and test suite definitions for the operational requirements of the protocols. Conformance tests, executed at C&S are based on these specifications. Furthermore C&S is participating in the standardization process to enhance the specifications by test experiences.
The test suite is a standardized environment for the execution of the individual tests. Each component of the test suite must be calibrated to ensure comparable and reproducible results. Technical and organizational requirements of conformance testing are implemented at C&S and accreditation according to ISO 17025 has been achieved - see Accreditation for more details.
