Quality management ensures that goods, services and processes can be developed and edited corresponding to their needs and the customers’ requirements.
It has been already tested in many areas what the several requirements are and the results showed how a company must be organized and must work to meet the requirements of his area.
In general terms, these ‘derived requirements’ to a company are fixed in quality standards. A familiar example is the international standard ISO 9001, also ‘our ISO 17025’ is such an international standard.
If a company decides to work for one of the standards – so to introduce a quality management system – it has to transfer the requirements, which are described in the standard in general terms, to its own company.
The company fills the general requirements with life und writes down their company-specific rules in a quality handbook. This quality handbook is the central part of the Quality Management System (QMS) of the company.
Finally, the company is authorized to get a confirmation by an official, external and independent authority about the correct and useful implementation and observation of the rules of the standards.
This confirmation is called – depending on the underlying quality standard – Accreditation or Certification.
