10BASE-T1S qualification – PLCA conformance tests according to V1.3 and PMA tests V1.0 available – PCS tests in Q3 2025

In the field of automotive electronics, the introduction of the 10BASE-T1S standard is a major development aimed at bringing Ethernet to the edge of vehicle topology. As the latest addition to the family of Ethernet technologies for vehicles, 10BASE-T1S was developed to provide an efficient, cost-effective and standardized data transfer method for automotive sensors, actuators and ECUs.

With the help of the members of the OPEN Alliance, the C&S group took the lead in creating the test specification for qualifying the PLCA Reconciliation Sublayer of the 10BASE-T1S protocol, which was then published in version 1.0 by the OPEN Alliance at the end of 2023.

At the same time, the development of the in-house test system was driven forward so that the first 10BASE-T1S PHYs have been tested since mid-2024. Experience from these tests was fed back into the test specification, resulting in version V1.3, which is already available to OA members and is currently in the process of being published by the industry alliance.

The next step is to complete the conformance test portfolio for 10BASE-T1S so that PCS conformance tests can be offered in addition to the interoperability tests, PLCA and PMA conformance tests. The goal is to continue to be a strong partner for semiconductor manufacturers in the field of 10BASE-T1S Automotive Ethernet.
